Nadi, Fiji | 1–3 October 2026 — Pacific Farmer Organisations (PFO) will bring together representatives of its member farmer organisations for its annual Regional Learning and Planning Week and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Nadi, Fiji.
The three-day gathering will provide an important space for farmer organisation leaders to reflect on current work, share lessons, plan future programmes and strengthen the Pacific voice ahead of Pre-COP31, which will also take place in Nadi from 5–8 October.
PFO’s Learning and Planning Week will review progress and impacts from ongoing initiatives, including the CRF-PI, FORI and ACRE projects. Participants will also help shape future work under Farmer Organisations for Impact (FO4I), the second phase of the Farmer Organisations for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific programme, as well as the GAFSP-PAFRI project and other opportunities.
The programme will focus on strengthening farmer organisations, supporting value chains, building policy and institutional capacity, and sharing practical learning across the Pacific. Dedicated sessions will allow participants to discuss current projects in detail, explore relevant digital tools and contribute to planning for future activities.
A key part of the week will be PFO’s climate discussions. Women Empowerment Officers and the PFO Climate and Biodiversity Council will meet to develop and strengthen key messages for COP31. These messages will reflect the priorities and experiences of Pacific farmers, including the need for accessible adaptation finance, nature-based solutions, inclusive climate action and stronger food systems.
Holding the meeting immediately before Pre-COP31 gives PFO and its members a timely opportunity to prepare a united Pacific farmer voice. Selected participants will also be invited to represent PFO during Pre-COP31 discussions and related side events.
The AGM on 3 October will bring members together to fulfil PFO’s governance responsibilities, review progress and help guide the organisation’s direction for the year ahead. The programme will conclude with a celebration and blessing of PFO’s new space in Nadi, welcoming sponsors, partners and neighbours.
Through the Learning and Planning Week and AGM, PFO continues to strengthen collaboration among farmer organisations and ensure that Pacific farmers are represented in national, regional and global discussions that shape agriculture, food systems, climate action and rural livelihoods.
