Honiara, Solomon Islands – Members of Kastom Gaden Association are gaining more knowledge through an organized “Look & Learn” field visit to farms in the Solomon Islands.

Kastom Gaden Association Trainer, Esther Lodu says the exercise is an opportunity for youths and women replicate the back yard farming in their communities.

“It’s about improving family nutrition and maximizing land space for gardening of food crops for family consumption and extra income.”

“We’re really looking to engage our youths and women in backyard gardening, to expand their knowledge as well introduce them to new farming technology to adopt and integrate into their existing gardens.”

“Our “Look & Learn” visits will provide them with an opportunity to learn, explore and exchange ideas especially during this COVID-19 period.”

The activities are funded by the Farmers’ Organizations for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (FO4ACP) Programme, a joint partnership between the European Union, Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) and Pacific Island Farmers Organisation Network (PIFON).
