These healthy vanilla vines indicate a gradual reduction of shade

Goal  : to gradually reduce the shade to let the sun penetrate the lines

When : right before the expected dry season

Tool : (1) Bush ladder (2) Pruning Saw

PROCESS : 

Prune a few branches every week on the shade tree, gradually reducing the shade over a period of 3 to 4 weeks

WARNING

Do not cut all the shade branches at once to avoid burning the vines and the roots
