PIRAS is working across 6 Pacific Island countries supporting community food systems and economic recovery from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Fiji the program has been working in the provinces of Nadroga Navosa, Ba and Naitasiri through Pacific Island Farmer Organisation, Partners in Community Development Fiji (PCDF), Rise Beyond the Reef and Ministry of Agriculture .
As of August 2022 through its partnerships in Fiji, PIRAS has been able to:
[1] Assist over 3,000 beneficiaries with land preparation across 190 acres of individual and communal farms.
[2] Install 4 biogas units that convert organic waste to liquid fertiliser benefiting 1,025 farmers.
[3] Distribute improve planting materials to 3,600 farmers.
[4] Conduct trainings in agriculture methods to 1,495 rural women and men.
