Nadi, Fiji – June 11th 2024, South Sea Orchids in Nadi played host to the Floriculture Annual Forum, welcoming over 100 attendees. The event was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Mrs. Lynda Tabuya, who engaged with women florists from various districts across Fiji’s four divisions.
The forum featured a dynamic talanoa session with Hon. Minister Tabuya, where she addressed crucial topics such as market access, available assistance programs for women’s cluster farmers, and financial accessibility. Throughout the day, key stakeholders and partners, including representatives from the Pacific Farmer Organisations, Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF), and Women’s Fund Fiji, shared valuable insights.
In the afternoon, South Sea Orchids General Manager, Stephen Henry, led a Climate Change Assessment utilizing tools recently adopted from the Climate Resilient Farming Training for Farmer Organisations hosted by the Pacific Farmer Organisations (PFO) last week.
This forum was made possible through the support of the FO4ACP project, a collaborative initiative between the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), European Union (EU), African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group of States (ACP), Pacific Farmer Organisations, and South Sea Orchids.
