August 2025

Honiara, Solomon Islands – August 2025: Farmer leaders and partners from across the Pacific will converge in Honiara this August for a week-long Learning and Planning Meeting and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Pacific Farmer Organisations (PFO). Hosted in partnership with the Kastom Gaden Association (KGA), the event will take place from Monday, 18 August to Friday, 22 August 2025.
The gathering marks a pivotal moment for Pacific Farmer Organisations involved in the Farmers’ Organisations for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (FO4ACP) and its next-phase initiative, FO4Impact (FO4I), particularly focusing on activities under the Climate Resilient Farming (CRF) and Farmer Organisations for Research and Innovation (FORI) streams.
The week will be filled with dynamic sessions, including:
- Split sessions for CRF and FORI teams to review Year 2–4 workplans, monitor progress against project targets, and identify shared technical gaps.
- Policy and advocacy workshops, including training on climate adaptation and farmer-led research.
- A dedicated Innovation Playground, where participants will showcase farmer-led solutions, innovations, and success stories.
- Farmer-to-farmer field visits, including site visits on floriculture, fruits and breadfruit value chains, and value-adding initiatives in East Honiara.
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, providing space for governance, planning, and reflection.
A number of side events are also expected, including a Breadfruit Public Event in partnership with Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and a traditional welcome ceremony by a local community on arrival day (Sunday, 17 August).
In the spirit of collaboration and peer learning, this event aims to build stronger farmer organisations, encourage knowledge exchange across countries, and strengthen regional efforts to address climate change and improve food systems in the Pacific.
The week will close with a celebratory dinner at one of the visited field sites, bringing together the voices, visions, and values that drive Pacific agriculture forward.
This event is supported by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, World Rural Forum #ACRE Project, FAO Forest & Farm Facility, and the EU–AgriCord FORI Pacific Breadfruit Project.
