The Fiji Crop & Livestock Council (FCLC) is anticipating a significant turnout at its two-day Farmers Forum kicking off in Suva this Wednesday.

The forum will prioritize farmers and their associations on the first day, with the second day dedicated to fostering collaboration among stakeholders. FCLC Chief Executive Jiu Daunivalu highlighted the event’s role in connecting international and local participants to explore opportunities in agribusiness.

This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the European Union, IFAD, and the ACP-funded Farmers’ Organisations for Asia, Caribbean and Pacific, facilitated by the Pacific Islands Farmers Organisation (PFO).

The forum theme, “Organising and Strengthening Farmers and Farmers’ Organisations as Entrepreneurs and Partners in Agribusiness,” underscores the importance of empowering farmers as business owners and collaborators within the agricultural sector.

Daunivalu emphasized the need to modernize and improve efficiency in agriculture to position farmers for entrepreneurial success. She also noted that FCLC, with its vast membership of around 80,000 individuals across various agricultural fields, plays a crucial role in representing farmers and ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
