Climate Resilient Farming Framework

The Climate Resilient Farming Framework strengthens the ability of Pacific farmers and rural communities to adapt to climate change and natural disasters, while safeguarding food, water, and livelihoods.

Led by Pacific Farmer Organisations (PFO), the framework focuses on inclusive, farmer-centred approaches that address the specific needs of women, youth, and other vulnerable groups. It is supported by the Australian Government and co-financed through the EU and IFAD

Building institutional resilience through governance, technical expertise, and tools to respond to future climate threats.

Together, these elements create a structured approach to climate-smart agriculture, helping Pacific farmers prepare for today and tomorrow.

PFO Climate and Biodiversity Advisory Council

The PFO Climate and Biodiversity Advisory Council brings together leaders from Pacific Island farmer organisations to guide PFO on climate and biodiversity issues. The council:

  • Advises the PFO Board on regional and global climate and biodiversity policy.
  • Represents PFO at key policy, funding, and partnership events.
  • Supports capacity building, knowledge sharing, and strategic initiatives.
  • Helps PFO engage with governments, development partners, and international programmes.

The council meets monthly, directing PFO’s policy work and ensuring all Pacific countries are represented through its 7 appointed members.

Women's Empowerment In Agriculture Network

The PFO Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Network brings together farmer organisation leaders working to transform farming households.  Through support from the Australian government, farmer organisations in seven countries have appointed Womens Empowerment Officers who have the task of being change makers within and outside the farmer organisation.  Through the network these officers are supported with training, capacity building and peer-peer learning on successful models to deliver climate adaptation support in a gender sensitive way.
